Education and Experience

Lynn Murphy is a Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude graduate of the University of Richmond, Virginia, where she obtained a Bachelor’s Decree in psychology with a minor in sociology in 1995.  Ms. Murphy attended law school at the University of South Carolina, graduating with a Juris Doctor degree in 1999.  While in law school, Ms. Murphy was awarded CALI certificates (formerly Am Jur awards) in the fields of Evidence and Health Law.

Ms. Murphy began practicing law in 1999 and opened her own practice in 2002.  She specializes in representing individuals in all family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, visitation and equitable distribution.  She also represents individuals and small businesses in the drafting of corporate documents (i.e., incorporation, formation of LLC's, etc.), contracts, and business litigation.  She is a member of the Charleston Bar Association, South Carolina Bar Association, South Carolina Women Lawyers’ Association, and Young Lawyer’s Division of South Carolina Bar.  She has spoken at and contributed to Continuing Legal Education seminars, is active in the Family Court Bar, is a Business Member of the Charleston Center for Women, and is a certified Guardian ad litem.
